Terms and Conditions
1. Program Overview & Participant Agreement
As a condition of participation in the 2026 Sue & Alan Kaufman & Family Teen Mission to Israel (the “Teen Mission”), sponsored by the Jewish Federation of Detroit and The Fresh Air Society d/b/a Tamarack Camps (collectively, “Teen Mission”), I, as the parent or guardian of the participant (“Participant”), understand and agree to abide by these Terms & Conditions. Participation is a privilege and is contingent upon full compliance with all program rules, safety standards, and community values.
2. Registration, Deposits & Payment Schedule
- A $1,000 deposit ($500 if applying for scholarship) is due at registration. Deposit assistance is available — cost should not prevent registration.

- Applications received after January 1, 2026 must include a $2,000 deposit.
- Applications received after April 1, 2026 must be paid in full at registration.
- The full balance of trip fees is due April 3, 2026.
3. Medical Requirements & Participant Health
- All medical forms are due April 1, 2026.
- A well visit must be completed on or after May 1, 2025.
- If the well visit occurs between April 1, 2026 and departure, families must notify us by email with the appointment date; the Teen Mission/Tamarack-specific physician form is due the day after the appointment.
- All physical, psychological, and medical conditions must be fully disclosed.
- Participants must have active health insurance throughout the trip.
- Parents/guardians are responsible for all medical costs not covered by their insurance or travel insurance.
4. Conduct, Safety & Dismissal Policy
- Teen Mission maintains a zero-tolerance policy for behaviors violating the Code of Conduct.
- Prohibited behaviors include: drug/alcohol use, vaping, weapons, bullying, harassment, theft, vandalism, unsafe or disruptive behavior.
- Participants must maintain proper self-care (hydration, nutrition, sleep, medications).
- Any instance of self-harm, threats, violence, or significant safety concerns is grounds for immediate dismissal.
- Teen Mission reserves the right to dismiss a Participant at its sole discretion and without refund.
If a Participant is dismissed for any reason, the parent/guardian is fully responsible for:
- The cost of the Participant’s return flight
- Any additional travel expenses
- Any unused portion of program fees (non-refundable)
5. Travel Requirements & Risk Acknowledgment
The Participant and parent/guardian:
- Acknowledge the inherent risks of international travel, including terrorism, illness, injury, and regional instability.
- Assume responsibility for participation with full understanding of these risks.
- Agree to follow all laws, customs, safety protocols, instructions, and local authority directives.
Teen Mission is not responsible for:
- Personal health or safety
- Loss or damage to personal belongings
6. RootOne Grant Requirements
Participants receiving RootOne travel vouchers must:
- Complete all RootOne registration forms
- Participate in educational and pre-trip requirements
- Meet all posted deadlines
- Complete the trip
Failure to comply will result in loss of the RootOne grant, and the family will be responsible for the full trip cost adjustment.
7. Refunds & Travel Insurance
Teen Mission strives to support families while upholding contractual obligations.
Refund Policy
- Airfare: Once airline tickets are purchased (expected by February 1, 2026), the airfare portion becomes non-refundable and is the family’s responsibility.
- Land Program Fees: Become non-refundable after April 3, 2026.
- Program Cancellation: If Teen Mission 2026 is canceled in full by Tamarack Camps or the Jewish Federation of Detroit, all payments will be refunded.
Travel Insurance Requirements
Each Participant is required to carry:
- Travel medical insurance
Families are strongly encouraged to purchase a policy that also includes:
- Trip cancellation (for covered medical reasons)
- Trip interruption (for covered medical reasons)
Families may choose any licensed provider. One optional resource is:

8. Early Departure or Dismissal
- Participants who leave early for personal or non-medical reasons may not return without written approval from the Director.
- Participants dismissed for disciplinary or conduct violations:
- Parent/guardian pays all return travel costs
- No refunds or prorated reimbursements will be issued
9. Medical & Emergency Care
Teen Mission may act on the Participant’s behalf in an emergency, including authorizing medical treatment.
Parents/guardians are responsible for all associated medical costs.
10. Media Release
Unless a written opt-out is provided, Participant’s name, image, recordings, statements, or creative work may be used for Teen Mission or partner-agency purposes.
11. Assumption of Risk
Participation includes travel, outdoor adventure, and physical activity risks.
Parents/guardians voluntarily assume all risks on behalf of the Participant.
12. Travel Warning Acknowledgment
Parent/guardian acknowledges reviewing current U.S. State Department Travel Advisories for Israel and accepts all associated risks.
13. Insurance Limitations
Travel medical policies may exclude certain conditions.
Any uncovered medical or travel expenses are the responsibility of the parent/guardian.
14. Indemnification & Release
Parents/guardians agree to indemnify and hold harmless Teen Mission, Tamarack Camps, Jewish Federation of Detroit, LET Travel, and all associated staff and partners from claims or liabilities arising from participation.
15. Arbitration & Governing Law
- All disputes will be resolved through binding arbitration in Oakland County, Michigan, under AAA rules.
- Michigan law governs this agreement.
- The prevailing party may recover reasonable attorney fees and costs.
16. Entire Agreement
This document represents the complete agreement between Teen Mission and the parent/guardian. It supersedes all prior communication.
Parent/Guardian Acknowledgment
I have read, understood, and discussed these Terms & Conditions with my teen. I voluntarily agree to be bound by all terms.
